Dressage
The dressage phase is the first, where horse and rider are required to perform a simple test comprising of a set sequence of movements in an arena 20 metres wide and 40 meters long (60 meters at a Advanced and Intermediate level) to show that the horse is supple and obedient. The judge awards marks for each movement on a scale of 0-10; the marks being totalled and converted into penalties.
